Our story

Why we built PathwayPrep

We are Maria and Richard, Canadian parents who have lived through the challenges of helping our children prepare for university.

It started at our kitchen table in 2024. University applications were open, and we had a child in Grade 12, a spreadsheet, sixteen browser tabs, and a deadline we weren't sure we'd read correctly.

The information wasn't hidden; it was scattered. Each university published its requirements, but bringing everything together and understanding what it meant for our child was harder than we expected.

We wanted a clear, organized picture of where our child stood: the courses they needed, the prerequisites, the deadlines and the costs. Something we could sit down with as a family, understand, and use to decide what to do next.

So we built it.

Our experience was the starting point, but we also sought advice and feedback from educators, both active and retired, including retired secondary school administrators in the Greater Toronto Area and educators in the private school system. Their perspectives helped us think carefully about how PathwayPrep could support students and their families.

Behind every course choice, application and deadline is a young person trying to work out what comes next, and a family trying to help.

From the beginning, we set a simple rule: families should be able to see where the information in their report comes from. We check admission ranges, prerequisites, deadlines and tuition against the universities' own published pages. Where we have verified a detail, your report shows the source link and the date we checked it. Where we haven't, the report says so and tells you what to confirm with the university.

Our hope is that PathwayPrep strengthens the conversations parents have with their children throughout high school, and complements the support guidance counsellors provide. We want families to have a clearer picture of their options, useful questions to ask, and practical steps they can take together.

We hope you find value in the report and the digital planner. Share it with your friends so that they stay organized too. Every delivered report comes with a referral code that gives a friend 15% off their plan and sends you $10 once their report arrives.

PathwayPrep.caUniversity planning made clear.
Practical. Organized. Canadian-focused.

PathwayPrep.ca is an independent planning service designed for families who want clear, practical support without feeling overwhelmed. It does not replace official university websites, application centres, school guidance counsellors, or professional financial advice — always confirm final admission requirements, deadlines, tuition fees, and scholarship details directly with the university or official application source.
